Gabriel Bélanger
Project Lead at Laporte Engineering
Gabriel Bélanger worked as Cannabis Project Lead at Laporte Engineering, a consulting firm that specializes in biopharmaceutical, food & beverage and industrial engineering. He designed cannabis cultivation and processing facilities in Canada. He also worked as Operations Manager for a licensed producer in British Columbia where he oversaw the construction of the site, developed the extraction process and produced cannabis oil. He is an instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia where the teaches the course MEDM9001 Plant Production and Facility Management.
Gabriel is a member of ASTM D37 Committee on Cannabis to develop standards for cannabis, its products and processes. He wants to contribute to the development of test methods, practices and guides for cultivation, quality assurance, laboratory considerations, packaging and security.
Prior to working with authorized producers, Gabriel cofounded Vertica Urban Farm: a startup producing lettuce for restaurants in a vertical farming system. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Université de Sherbrooke.
